Cordless irons: pros and cons. How does a cordless iron work?

It’s not difficult to understand how a cordless iron works. This is a device with a stand that has a heating element and transfers heat to the sole. The ironing process is faster and safer, since there is no cord - you can work with either hand. The pros and cons, as well as the principle of operation of this device, are described in detail in the presented article.

Features and principle of operation

The tool looks little different from a regular one, but it is an iron without a cord. In addition, it is placed on a stand, which also serves as a charging station. It is connected to the network and contains a heating element. It warms up and transfers heat to the sole upon contact.

Since one ironing cycle, i.e. continuous operation takes about 20-25 seconds (sometimes less), the sole does not have time to cool down. Therefore, a Philips cordless iron or another model also remains hot. This power is quite enough for full ironing.

The stand follows the contour of the iron. It has a special connector into which it is convenient to install the tool. Thanks to this, as well as the absence of a cord, the process is much more convenient - there is no risk of getting tangled in the wire, much less dropping the device.

The stand is equipped with an indicator that turns on when the desired temperature is reached.It is also equipped with a thermostat, with which you set the desired level. Some modern models even have an audible alarm and an automatic shut-off system for safety purposes.

Advantages and disadvantages of the device

Cordless irons have pros and cons. Obviously, thanks to the absence of a cord, the ironing process becomes not only more comfortable, but also safer. There are also other advantages:

  • the process goes faster, you can concentrate only on ironing;
  • economical consumption of electricity;
  • the surface of the iron does not become too hot unnecessarily;
  • You can process even a large volume of clothing - if one hand is tired, work with the other;
  • it is possible to set the desired temperature and configure the ironing program;
  • The principle of operation of a cordless iron is the same as that of classic devices, so you can understand the instructions in a matter of minutes.

Iron without cord

There are not many disadvantages, but nevertheless they exist:

  • during ironing, the device is placed only on a stand - it will not be possible to install it vertically (although some models, on the contrary, have only vertical installation, but not horizontal);
  • Such a device usually costs more than conventional models;
  • there is a time limit for continuous ironing (without recharging);
  • It’s intuitive how to use a cordless iron, but its functionality is limited compared to other modern models.

Instructions and tips for use

Usage rules vary by device. But there are also general points - they look like this:

  1. The stand is connected to the network.
  2. Set the desired temperature and mode (program).
  3. Place the iron in it exactly in the slots.
  4. Wait for a sound or light signal that the desired temperature has been reached.
  5. Start ironing. When processing fabric, the contactless iron is used for 15-25 seconds, then placed back on the stand.
  6. The same cycles are repeated several times until the process is completely completed.

It is also recommended to pay attention to a few tips for correct use of the device. With experience, the skill will appear, but if you are using a cordless iron for the first time, you should follow these rules:

  1. It is better to start work with denser fabrics that require high temperatures, and finish with delicate ones.
  2. If the fabrics are mixed, you should choose a mode with a low temperature.
  3. When changing the temperature mode, you need to place the instrument on the stand and wait a few seconds.
  4. Before use, adjust the steam function.
  5. Once every few months, descaling is carried out with citric acid or other means.

Contactless iron

A cordless iron is more convenient and safer. This is especially important if there are small children and pets in the house. But such devices are a little more expensive. They are chosen in the same way as a regular iron - taking into account technical characteristics, warranty period and reviews.
